INTERVIEW TIPS
The Oxford
dictionary defines an interview as a face-to-face meeting, especially for
the purpose of obtaining a statement or for assessing the qualities of a
candidate. The purpose of an interview is to create an opportunity for
people to meet and converse with each other on a matter of mutual benefit.

HOW TO PREPARE A BIO-DATA :
Also called the curriculum vitae, a bio-data is the single most important
document in the entire interview and selection process. A typically bad
bio-data has the following points:
· It is written on crumpled or stained paper
· Illegible handwriting
· Incomplete information
· Addresses are not given
· Not signed by the candidate
To prepare a good bio-data, here are a few tips to keep in mind:
1. The bio-data must be typed on a quarto-sized bond paper which is
white, clean and uncreased. It is preferable to type the bio-data on an
electric or electronic typewriter.
2. Name: While writing your name, it must be in the following
order: first name, middle name, surname.
3. Date of birth: The date of birth must be as follows: date,
month in words and the year in full, eg. 24 July, 1970.
4. Addresses: The addresses, both temporary and permanent, must be
reliable because the interview call letter will be sent there.
5. Academic Qualifications: The academic career must be listed
with the most recent qualifications first.
6. Work Experience: The work experience must commence with the
present assignment.
7. Extra-curricular Activities: You must have adequate knowledge
of the activities you list, as the interviewer could quiz you on this.
Always list achievements rather than activities.
8. References: Your bio-data should have at least three referees
who are acquaintances and not relatives.
9. Photograph: Affix a passport sized photograph.
10.Signature: Always sign your bio-data. This is an
acknowledgement that all information given in the bio-data is authentic.
11. Application Letter: Your bio-data should be sent along with a
formal application letter which should be signed. All supporting
documents, as requested, must be stapled with the application form.
